I arrived in Cairo at the end of Eid celebrations in November 2012 and happened upon a large celebration at Al Azhar Park (a must see!) The story behind the park is very interesting and was built by the Agha Khan Foundation. It has been listed as one of the world's 60 greatest public spaces by Project for Public Spaces (PPS), based in New York.
