Sharjah in The UAE, has taken great pains in advertizing local culture in an otherwise rather "culturally cleansed" society. At their Heritage Exhibition a local woman from Ras Al Khaimah is busy binding thread to make what I believe is called "talli", which later on is sewn on to arms of dresses and the legs of pants.
