The fountain in Viktoria-Luise-Platz, Schöneberg - a 100m walk from where we are currently staying in Berlin.The oval is named for Prussian Princess Viktoria Luise who was the only daughter (from 7 children) of Kaiser Wilhem II, and a great-grand-daughter of England's Queen Victoria. She was born in 1892 and died in 1980.
Viktoria-Luise-Platz is one of 5 stations on the shortest trainline in Berlin's U-bahn - the 2.9km U4, running between Nollendorfplatz and Innsbrucker Platz.

ReplyDeleteI always wondered, how fascinating it must be to be born in the 1800's and survive long enough to see cars and phones and computers and VCR and moon travels and planes and women's lib and Computer games and what nots. Oh and the fountain is also nice! lol

Sha'ira: I agree! My grandmother was born in 1901 and died in 1972 - that was progress enough for her - without computers, mobile phones, vcrs, dvds etc!
