My partner's beloved Grandfather died recently and according to his last wish he was buried in an urn in an anonymous grave... which actually is on a beautiful green meadow within a large Berlin cemetery. The relatives' roses thrown into the freshly shoveled grave made the ceremony somehow more touching than a pompous funeral would have been- the beautiful red flowers in the dry brown earth seemed a sad sight, but appropriate, as he was a wonderful old man who was always very humble and loved the simple things.
wow.. why anonymous..

lirun: I think he wanted to save his wife from spending a fortune on a grave and gravestone, which in germany is really expensive. his wish was that grandma would rather spend her money on traveling and living a comfortable life after his departure.
