The Brandenburg Gate is the only remaining gate of a series through which people used to enter Berlin. Between 1961 and 1989, the Gate was cut off from East Berliners by the Berlin Wall and the heavily defended "death strip" or No Man's Land.
Nowadays the gate is a pedestrian thoroughfare with a ubiquitous Starbucks close by! A new US embassy is being built near by off to the left of the image, and the French embassy is off to the right.
Berlin, Germany
