The 40th Floor Drop
This is a view from the 40th floor down to the lobby in the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai. Women traveling alone get a room on the ladies floor - which is the 40th - and it was quite an experience. Noone without a special key can enter this floor and you have to pass two security doors to get in. Not that anyone was out to harass me anyway, but still the hotel wants the ladies to feel safe. Which I did, until while walking to my room I noticed that the glass balustrade was only about 1 meter 30 high and behind it was this horrid abyss! I'm totally afraid of heights and immediately felt sick. Still, I just had to take a photo - but I didn't bend over the short wall - I stretched my arm as far as I could and quickly made a photo while looking the other way.

ReplyDeletelol I just got a visual of you stretching your arm out and snapping a shot while closing your eyes thinking "I hope I don't fall I hope I don't fall"
ReplyDeleteBrave girl, good on you! :)
Heh - I used the same technique while up the Eiffel Tower!
ReplyDeleteI love the glass elevators in the Emirates Towers and the way they "crash" through the 20th(?) floor on their way down to the ground. It was one of J's things to show our visitors!
