Treasure chest, Doornenburg

On one of our weekend excursions - I spotted this old chest at the Kasteel Doornenburg near Arnhem in Holland. It was love at first sight for me. I adored it as a piece of furniture and also for the mysteries it held inside. The Kasteel was destroyed during the Wars, so antiques were bought from other places in Holland as part of the restoration.
Some day I shall have my own little Kasteel and in it I shall store my meager treasures...

  1. I love old chests! one can find super cheap ones from the late 19th and early 20th century here in sweden. Come on over for some shopping!

  2. Me too. Though I kinda prefer to call them TRUNKS.
Heres a thought. Both words are an anatomical reference.

  3. uff lol besharram larki! Very well spotted!

  4. sha'ira: really. oh! i would love that. i so badly need to do that!

kaya: so true, i wonder why? ...hmm...food for thought...

  5. This themes is making me big time nostalgic. I have an exact same type of chest in my house. The house used to be filled with ols stuff, paintings, chandeliers, weapons, ornaments. thanks for sharing all this stuff.
