Traditional Hyderabadi jewellery

This is one of a set which is traditionally given to every Hyderabadi (indian) bride.
Made with pearls, diamonds and emeralds. The cost varies accoring to the quality of gemstones, and the karat of gold .
The pearl extensions on the earrings ( jhumka's) are known as "sahaara"- lit. support.
The have hooks on the ends and will be pinned into the hair. These were used in the olden days, to take the weight of the earring off the ear lobe.
