This is one famous guy, he is even featured on fellow blogger Kaya's pictures taken at Matrah Souq in Muscat, Oman. He sells strawberries and a fruit I have never seen before. Anyone know the name of it?
Shaira, fresh picture again the fruit I see next to strawberries I think is "Bair" or at least thats what its called in Pakistan. There are several varieties of the fruit and it grows on a tree in the rugged desert conditions.
Hmmm thats a tough question, its texture is sort of like the granny smith's apple crisp and juicy, its taste is quite unique, you gotta try it I don't how how else to explain. they basically grow in the wild and are a much smaller version then the ones you saw in mutrah. The ones sold commercially are grafted.
I agree , it called bair. SOmetimes they have this unique smell, and I don't like it very much. It has a long brown seed, and either a pale yellow green skin or when very ripe brown shiny skin, or when very very ripe and about to dry, the skin can look wrinkly. Tastes good.
"Bair" . Oh aadhi angrez ki aulaad!! You get them in 3 types. Little red tart ones. Sticky and slightly sour, Round green ones, and oblong green ones known as narkilli bair. The seed of which is like a date seed. They taste like BAIR.
